A chronic disease that affects the airways in the lungs, causing them to narrow and swell.
Triggers: Allergens, cold air, exercise, infections.
Symptoms:
Wheezing
Coughing
Chest tightness
Shortness of breath
Patient Tip: Avoid triggers, use inhalers as prescribed, and keep an asthma action plan.

A condition where the heart can’t pump blood effectively.
Causes: Heart attacks, high blood pressure, heart valve disease.
Symptoms:
Shortness of breath
Fatigue
Swelling in legs
Rapid heartbeat
Patient Tip: Limit salt, manage weight, take medications daily, and monitor fluid intake.

When the kidneys lose the ability to filter waste from blood.
Types:
Acute (sudden)
Chronic (gradual loss over time)
Symptoms:
Swelling in legs and feet
Fatigue
Confusion
Decreased urine output
Patient Tip: Follow renal diet, control diabetes/hypertension, and attend regular dialysis if needed.

A condition in which the force of the blood against artery walls is too high. Often called a “silent killer.”
Type 1: Autoimmune, usually appears in childhood.

Elevated levels of cholesterol or triglycerides in the blood.
Causes: Poor diet, lack of exercise, obesity, genetics.
Symptoms: Often none, but increases risk for heart disease.
Risks: Heart attack, stroke, atherosclerosis.
